Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Puno, Titicaca Lake & La Paz – Starting from Lima

Our 10-day tour will take us to La Paz, visiting on our way down south, the amazing and beautiful Sacred Valley and Cusco too.  La Paz, has been declared by UNESCO as “World Cultural Heritage” and we will have the time to get to know this city and surroundings.

The tour will begin in Lima, the historical colonial  city which it was fusioned with its pre Inca past.  We will have the opportunity to visit the main square in Lima, the presidential house, churches, museums is a must to see.  This tour will give you an idea of the Spanish influence during the time of the conquest and the wonders on how a pre-Inca construction with an antiquity of more than 1,200 was raised too.

The amazing Cusco, the imperial city of the Incas will delight us with its people, traditions as well as amazing temples and its surroundings landscapes.  The beauty of the sacred valley where the Incas built fortresses and other constructions at high altitude, will leave us astounded.   A train journey, will provide us also a magical encounter to Machu Picchu and we will enjoy its beauty and esplendor taken us back to an era where the children of the sun lived in harmony with the universe.

Before reaching our final destination, we will get first to Puno, Titicaca lake, sailing across to visit the Uros island to a such high altitude where you will not able to see to the other side of the land.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival to Lima – City Tour: Colonial and Contemporary Lima & Larco Museum

Upon arrival, reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Our representative will give you a documentation kit with detailed program explanation. Luggage and hotel registration assistance is offered. In the afternoon, you will visit the modern part and the colonial part of the city of Lima, “The City of Kings”, starting with the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, where we will pass by a pre-Inca construction that is 1200 years old, the Huaca Huallamarca. Then, we will go to the Historic Center, where you will visit the Main Square (Plaza Mayor), which comprises the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, The Municipality and the Cathedral. We will stop at the chocolate and pisco museums to do a brief tasting. Later on, we will visit the Convent of Santo Domingo, declared cultural heritage of humanity and house of the remains of our patron saints, San Martin de Porres and Santa Rosa de Lima.

Finally, we will visit the Larco Museum, which houses the incomparable private collection of Treasures of Ancient Peru and inspires its visitors making them discover, understand and enjoy the more than five thousand years of history of ancient Peru through more than 45,000 pieces. Day 2Cusco – City Tour & Ruins

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take your flight to Cusco. Arrival, reception by our collaborators and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the morning free to relax and adjust to the height. In the afternoon, we will enjoy our visit to the impressive colonial city built on the foundations of Inca palaces, around the streets of the neighborhood of San Blas and the stone of 12 angles in the Hatun Rumiyoq Street; the Koricancha or the Temple of the Sun where we can appreciate the fine work that the Incas performed on the stone, if it were a sculpture; the Cathedral with its delicate works of carved wood and impressive altars. We will finish by visiting the Inca Museum, also known as the Casa del Almirante, which was built on Inca foundations and which today houses a comprehensive collection of ceramics, textiles and Inca gold as well as an important example of colonial Cuzco school painting. Overnight in Cusco.

Day 3Authentic Sacred Valley: Chincheros Ruins and Church, Handicraft Community of Urpi & Ollantaytambo with buffet lunch

Today’s first destination is Chinchero, a quaint little town that houses an important Inca archaeological center, built at the end of the 1400’s, as well as a lovely and very traditional church. You will visit “Urpi” a famous textile center where the townsfolk have preserved the traditional Andean spinning and weaving techniques, they will also show you how they get the vivid natural colors for their fabrics.

On our way to Ollantaytambo, we will stop at the lookout point of Racchi, where we will have the chance to have some of the best views of the Sacred Valley, after that, lunch will be served in a local restaurant.

Afterwards, we will get to Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire, one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle. Very well known for its “andenes” (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress that also served as a temple. Then, we will continue to the adjacent town of Ollantaytambo, “the unique living Inca town”: the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century. Overnight in Sacred Valley.

You will discover the best about Sacred Valley in this fascinating experience that starts in Moray, in which you will visit the enormous circular and semi-circular agricultural terraces built into the top of a hill overlooking the Urubamba Valley and used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. Nearby is the town of Maras, you will visit its salt pans where one of the finest salts is extracted, this salt is used by the top chefs around the world. Then, lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Day 4Machu Picchu

You will visit one of the most important energy centers in the world: Machu Picchu. The excursion is done by train and during the tour we will have an amazing view of the landscape of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes, our staff will assist you to board the bus that will take you to the Citadel. It will be an unforgettable experience, where a professional guide will transmit us the history surrounding this mysterious and charming place. After the guided tour, you will enjoy free time to explore the area on your own, relax or meditate. When appropriate, descent to the town of Aguas Calientes. Included buffet-style lunch. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

Day 5Optional Second Visit to Machu Picchu(ENTRANCE NOT INCLUDED) – Return to Cusco

Morning at leisure. Optionally make a second visit to Machu Picchu and take advantage to more remote places such as the “Intipunku” or “Door of the Sun” the more adventurous may enjoy a motorcycle promotion to the “Huayna Picchu” or “Young mountain” to visit the Temple of the Moon and have a view of the Citadel of photography. In the afternoon, it will address the train back to Cusco. Upon arrival, our partners will await at the station, from where we’ll drive to your hotel. Overnight in Cusco.

Day 6Departure to Puno – Andahuaylillas / Racchi / La Raya

We will go to the station to start our trip by special bus to Puno, this way you can enjoy the wonderful landscapes of the Valley South of Cusco. We will visit the village of Andahuaylillas, where we will enter a beautiful church from the 17TH century, which boasts an impressive organ decorated with angels and cherubs. We will continue with a visit to the ruins of Raqchi, known as the Temple of Wiracocha Dios. Lunch on route. We will make a stop at “La Raya” natural boundary between Cusco and Puno, where we will have excellent photographic views. Arrival to Puno is in the afternoon, then transfer to hotel. Overnight in Puno.

Day 7Floating Island of Uros – Sillustani and Umayo Lake

In the morning, we will make an excursion on the Titicaca Lake and as a first point, we will visit the floating islands of the Uros, also called “The village of the Lake,” these islands are built with layers of totora and serve as homes and centres of Commerce for the natives of the same name that are mobilized in rafts built by hand. In the afternoon, we will visit Sillustani archaeological site located 34 Km North of Puno. Includes the famous Chullpas: circular funerary towers, built in stone and that they reach the 12 meters of height at the bottom of this site lies Lake Umayo, factor that increases the scenic beauty of this mystical place. Overnight in Puno.

Day 8Crossing of the Titicaca Lake board on Catamarán to La Paz – Isla del Sol View

Early in the morning, transfer by road to the sanctuary of Copacabana to board the catamaran that will take you to the island of the Sun, cradle of the Inca Empire. On this legendary island you visit the garden, stairs and the source of the Inca, subsequently the itinerary includes a visit to the Intiwata Cultural complex, the main tourist attraction in Bolivia, including the underground Museum of the Ekako private and other attractions; This visit also considers the possibility of sailing aboard an immense raft of typical Totora, from where we have a panoramic tour of the Inca Palace of Pilkokaina. Subsequently the catamaran is addressed again to go to the port of Chua, where you take the bus that will take us to our hotel. Overnight in the Paz.

Day 9La Paz – City tour and La Luna Valley

At morning, visit of the city of La Paz, declared by UNESCO as “World Cultural Heritage” will visit the Plaza Murillo, Cathedral, the Government Palace and the National Congress. The tour continues through residential areas, ending with a visit to the Valley of the Moon, a stunning set of geological formations. Afternoon free to relax or perform any optional activity, including the ruins of Tiahuanaco, where you can see the temples and buildings of one of the oldest cultures of America, including the famous “door of the Sun”. Overnight in the Paz.
