Early departure to the historic center of Quito with private transportation. The tour will begin by making a first stop at the Church of the Basilica, a church considered one of the largest neo-Gothic temples in America. Continue to the Plaza de la Independencia, where the Government Palace is located. Visit one of the most beautiful churches in Ecuador, La Compania Church, its construction took approximately 160 years and was inspired in two Roman temples Gesú and San Ignacio.
The city tour will then take you to the San Francisco church which is located in front of the square of the same name, is an architectural group considered one of the largest in Latin America’s historic centers and is characterized by several colonial works of art and several techniques belonging to ‘’La escuela Quitena’’. Continue the journey towards the Panecillo, a natural viewpoint rising to 3000 meters in the middle of the city, whose name comes from the time of the Spaniards. At the top of the Panecillo hill rises the monument to the Virgin Mary, monument made of aluminum and is considered one of the largest monuments made in this material in the world. From here we can observe a beautiful landscape and contemplate the whole city. Start in the northern part of Quito with a tour along the commercial areas, where most of the hotels in Quito are located. Then head to the historic center to visit the Basilica del Voto Nacional, where you will have a brief stop and explanation from the guide to later arrive at the Plaza de la Independencia, where through a walking route you will admire the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace and the La Compañia Church, recognized for its adornments and gold altars. Tour will continue towards the Church of San Francisco, built in the seventeenth century (entrance to the churches not included). Then headed to the Mirador del Panecillo, a place renowned for its beauty, where you can admire a beautiful landscape of colonial and modern Quito.
We will stop at the “Zona Rosa” of the city, to have free time for lunch (not included), and then continue to the norther part of the city, heading up to the “Middle of the World City”(entrance is included) where the monument that divides the Northern from the Southern Hemisphere will be observed. It was built during the XVII century when a French Expedition defined the exact location of the equatorial line.
