Today you are going to visit the Capital’s colonial downtown. Declared by UNESCO “World Cultural Heritage”, Quito invites you to visit its historic and modern treasures, walking around the Independence Plaza, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and Archbishop’s Palace, the Municipality, and the Carondelet Government Palace. Due to its multiple temples and cloisters, Quito is known as “America’s Cloisters.” You will visit “La Compañía” church and the San Francisco Convent. Later you will be taken to “El Panecillo”, a small hill in the middle of the city with a fabulous view of the 45 km long and 4 km wide city and the snow-capped volcanoes In the afternoon we will visit the world famous Equator, “Mitad del Mundo” which is located only 30 minutes from Quito. From here you can jump from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere. In the 18th century the French Geodesic Expedition arrived here to perform important researches and investigate the Earth’s actual form. Visit also the interesting Intiñan Museum where you learn about all the different cultures of Ecuador. Overnight at mentioned hotel in Quito.

After breakfast we will drive to Otavalo to the Cuicocha crater lagoon which is located at the foothills of the extinct Cotacachi volcano (4939m) and is part of the Cotacachi – Cayapas ecological, we will also visit the market of Otavalo which is the most famous indigenous market in South America. Here you will find a colorful selection of hand-woven handicrafts such as rugs, “Shigras” (colorful straw or linen woven bags) and hand-carved wooden products. This traditional market has been open on a daily basis in Otavalo’s Plaza del Poncho for years. This is an opportunity to take wonderful pictures and admire the Otavalo people in their typical clothing. Upper Class Hacienda Chorlavi


Enjoy a steam locomotive tour with an amazing panoramic view of the “White City”, Ibarra. It goes through San Antonio de Ibarra, internationally recognized for its people, great artists and sculptors who have given continuity to the Quito School of Art. The tour includes the visit to Andrade Marin, where the textiles museum “Fábrica Textil Imbabura” is located. It represents the testimony of the Industrial Revolution in Ecuador and the legacy to defend the workers’ rights. This trip also shows the extraordinary landscapes of San Roque and ends in back in Otavalo. In the afternoon drive to Termas de Papallacta – famous tourist destination in Ecuador, located approximately 70 km outside of the Ecuadorian capital. The path was also taken by the famous Francisco de Orellana in 1542 on his way to discover the Amazon River. The source heats up the waters beyond 37 degrees Celsius. Here you have the opportunity to visit the SPA and thermal baths at your own leisure and convenience. Characterized for its high levels of minerals that it contains such as chlorine sulfate and other alkalis it is recommend you inhale the steam to help clearing your respiratory tract to prevent several respiratory infections. La Casa del Suizo is a peaceful Amazonian refuge located on the shore of Ecuador’s majestic Napo River and a stone’s throw away from the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains. Perched comfortably above the riverbank and the small Quichua Indian village of Ahuano, La Casa del Suizo overlooks vast expanses of the surrounding tropical rainforest environment.

The adventure begins at Punta Ahuano, a tiny port town on the North bank of the Napo River, where canoes wait for a late-afternoon 15-minute ride downstream to la Casa del Suizo. you will arrive with time to get settled, and enjoy a sunset from the swimming pool with a refreshing welcome cocktail, you will continue on to the village of Ahuano, where we may learn about several aspects of traditional Quichua culture. A local host will show us how to make chicha, a typical beverage (which of course all may taste), and demonstrate the spiritual cleaning rituals still practiced today throughout the surrounding community. Finally, all may participate in a blowgun target-shooting contest – but don’t expect to beat the natives! Overnight: Casa del Suizo.


After breakfast the group will board a dugout canoe, and navigate 20 minutes down the waters of the scenic Napo River. The destination is Cosano where during an approximately two hour walk through primary rainforest visitors will have the opportunity to see actual hunting traps which were traditionally used by the local natives in the past. The guides will demonstrate how they work and explain which type of animals was caught in each one. And of course, at all times we will be on the lookout for tropical birds, and point out important aspects of the surrounding vegetation. Just across the river from La Casa del Suizo is Amazoonico, a rescue center for wounded and displaced tropical rainforest animals. Here it is possible to see coatis, tapirs, and several species of monkey, snakes, and a variety of birds, many of which wander around freely or if you decided to do other excursion Lunch “The Island”: A one-hour walk along a totally flat river island, where one may observe a great variety of plants and insects.

Later will go to Mariposario (butterfly house) will have the opportunity to see variety butterfly and their metamorphosis Overnight: Casa del Suizo.


After breakfast the group will depart for the trip up the mountains and back to the city. At Baeza your guide will stop at a lookout to stretch your legs and enjoy a lunch in a restaurant at the town before continuing on to Quito. Upper Class Hotel: Mercure Alameda
